Join SMA for insights on how employers can use employee benefits as a competitive advantage for talent acquisition and retention as well as a review of recent trends in the benefits industry. Healthcare costs continue to rise at a faster pace, on average, than both wage growth and general inflation. Because of this most employers are forced to provide as much as possible with the same or, in some cases, less resources for employees. At the same time there has been a tremendous amount of innovation in the benefits industry which is challenging to stay on top of and can be beneficial to make use of.

Our presenter will give us an overview of the current employee benefits landscape along with tactics employers can use to maximize the value of the benefits they provide for both employees and the organization, including:

    • Employers’ challenges with healthcare costs

    • Data on benefits other employers are providing to win the “war for talent”

    • How employee communications can be used as a competitive advantage

    • Innovative solutions now available in the marketplace employers should be aware of

    OUR SPEAKER

Rob Hansen has worked in the employee benefits industry for the past 15 years, beginning his benefits career on the insurance carrier side for Assurant Health prior to the passage of the Affordable Care Act in 2010. Over the last 10 years he has worked with employers as an employee benefits broker and adviser, currently working with about 30 employers located in the Northeast. Prior to that he worked with healthcare provider practices in the area of healthcare claims reimbursement for 5 years. This combination of experience as a benefits broker, carrier rep and in healthcare claims reimbursement enables Rob to be a trusted resource for employers as they make decision regarding benefits. When he’s not handling benefits renewals and managing claims issues Rob enjoys spending time with his wife and two children (Liam and Maddie) and staying active with Crossfit workouts.
