    Join us for insights about the current state and national economy and the labor market, along with forecasts and projections for what is to come. 

    Our presenter will give us an overview of both the Connecticut and national economies, along with a discussion of forecasts and projections for the coming months, including:

    -Employment and unemployment
    -Performance of Connecticut industries
    -Demographics of those who are in (and who have left) the labor force
    -Migration into and out of Connecticut
    -Job openings and unemployment insurance claims
    -Inflation and interest rates

    Understanding our state’s current and future economic trends is critical for HR and business leaders as they plan for future staffing, training and retention goals.

    OUR SPEAKER

    Patrick Flaherty
    Director of Research and Information, CT Department of Labor

    Patrick J. Flaherty is Director of Research at the Connecticut Department of Labor.   His previous position at DOL was as an economist where his responsibilities included industry and occupational projections.  He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Social Studies from Harvard University and his Master’s Degree in Economics from the University of Connecticut.  He is also Adjunct Faculty at UConn where he is teaching Principles of Microeconomics at UConn/Hartford.
